A series of experimental videos, rendered in FormFlow — a point-cloud app I vibe-coded in Google AI Studio — that turns images/video into animated point clouds.
Across the frames, figures surface out of the mesh and dissolve back into it — dancers, bodies mid-motion, a lone form in a desert — caught at the threshold between legible and abstract. A body is only ever a denser patch of the same field it's standing in, so as the source moves, forms coalesce and scatter, present one moment and gone the next.
The aesthetics were as much found as designed. The app renders luminance-depth point clouds; the archival, almost silent-film quality — the muted palettes, the grain of the point grid, the melancholy — emerged from the process rather than being specified. The same is true of the landscapes: shot in the Moroccan Sahara and at White Sands, deserts turn out to render as vast fields of discrete points, the medium and the place quietly rhyming — sand as pixels, pixels as sand.

This is a video of a video from @masaesatouchi’s recent exhibition in the East Village before she moved back to Japan. The clip was then fed through FormFlow, the point cloud renderer I built in AI Studio. The second-hand footage makes it feel archival, like a faded silent film. Amazing performance by the artist.
